Music festivals have been adapted to guarantee hygiene and safety measures and continue to offer live music in different parts of the country
Summer in Spain is synonymous with good weather, holidays, beaches, swimming pools, travel and also music festivals. Although music festivals are not new, in recent years there has been a boom that has multiplied this type of musical event throughout the country, making them a phenomenon capable of attracting hundreds of thousands of people to both coastal and inland Spain.
Although the coronavirus pandemia forced many organisations to cancel or postpone some of this summer’s major festivals, such as Mad Cool, NOS Alive, BBK Live, FIB, Arenal Sound, Medusa and Sonorama Ribera, there are many that have adapted their festivals to the new health requirements and safety measures, and will go ahead in 2020. We highlight some of them.
Viva la Vida Festival
With the support of the promoters of major festivals such as Arenal, Sonorama and FIB, a series of concerts will take place and it will travel to 40 cities in our country and offer some 500 concerts during July, August and September. Amaral, Loquillo, Ara Malikian, Kiko Veneno, Dulce Pontes, Viva Suecia and Celtas Cortos are just some of the confirmed artists.
An adaptation of one of the most popular festivals, this year it has 200 artists, most of them national, who will perform during July and August in emblematic places around the city such as the Pueblo Español, the gardens of the National Theatre of Catalonia and the Modernist enclosure of Sant Pau. Albert Pla, Sopa de Cabra, Delafé, El Jincho, Fuel Fandango, Nil Moliner, Maldita Nerea or Sidonie are some of the artists of this smaller and more intimate edition.

It has two open-air stages for 800 people, that will display the talent of Manel, Sidonie, La Habitación Roja, Carlos Sadness, Diego el Cigala, Xoel López, Mala Rodríguez and Miguel Poveda, among others.
An adaptation of the Tomasvistas festival, which has been postponed until 2021, you don’t want to miss the opportunity to bid farewell to this atypical summer in the best way possible. Between 3-10 September, the music of Dorian, Carolina Durante, Los Punsetes and Javiera Mena, among others, as well as a gastronomic section, will fill Tierno Galvan Park with art.
